
Chips,
Inc. was founded in 1992 by Steven E. Schwartzkopf. Steve has
been involved in some facet of manufacturing for over 40
years. He attended the University of Nebraska, Milford campus
and received a degree in Industrial Plastics Technology, which
is the design and building of plastic injection molds and the
chemistry and application of various plastics. He applied this
knowledge working in a mold shop for his first year out of
college then moved to Phoenix, Arizona.
He pursued a career in the Aerospace industry, working as a
general machinist until he was approached by Airesearch Mfg.
(now Honeywell) in 1980 and accepted a position as a
Production Engineer in the Case line. He held this position
for four years until he was promoted to a Manufacturing
Engineer in the Research and Development department.
After
three years he was promoted to a Manufacturing Project
Engineer where he reviewed Blue Prints for manufacturing
feasibility and cost effectiveness. After three years he
decided to pursue a career on his own. Two years after leaving
Allied Signal Aerospace, Steve and another engineer from
Allied Signal Aerospace. purchased one CNC lathe and founded
Chips, Inc. One year later Steve purchased his partners
portion of the business and has continued to build a state of
the art CNC machining facility. Steve has helped many
inventors design, develop and bring their ideas to fruition.
He is committed to quality and keeping costs low hence the
company motto "Aerospace Quality at Lawn and Garden Prices".
